Former Republic of Ireland player Dominic Foley lands Treaty United job

Former Republic of Ireland international Dominic Foley has been appointed as the new manager of Treaty United's women's side.

Foley played in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers and also had spells in England with Queen's Park Rangers, Watford, Notts County, Southend, Oxford United and Swindon Town.

The Corkman played in Greece and Portugal, and spent the longest period of his career in the top league in Belgium at Gent and Cercle Brugge for eight years.

He also had League of Ireland experience with Bohemians and Limerick FC.

Foley played six times for Ireland under Mick McCarthy and scored against Mexico.

He joins Treaty following the recent takeover by Tricor Pacific in partnership with the club’s new CEO Ciara McCormack.

The 47-year-old will have a difficult task taking on a United side that had just one victory in 20 Premier Division matches last year, finishing second bottom in the table.

He said: "I have been very impressed with how Ciara [McCormack], the board and Treaty United want to raise the bar with women’s football in Ireland.

"When the opportunity to speak to the club arose I knew it was something I wanted to commit to. Going in as a full time manager gives me a real opportunity to dedicate all my energy into the team and club, I cannot wait to get started."
