Former Rangers star claims Steven Gerrard told him 'f*** off you fat c***' when he asked for new contract

Greg Stewart says Steven Gerrard told him to 'f*** off' and called him a 'fat c***' when he cheekily asked him for a new contract during the 2021 title celebrations.

Former striker Stewart is one of the forgotten members of Rangers' title-winning squad as he played a bit part role on their road to 55 under Gerrard. He has a winners medal in his cabinet but his only start that season came against Lincoln FC in their first Europa League qualifier and he made just five appearances off the bench in the league.

He left the following summer for Jamshedpur but despite his relative lack of involvement, Stewart was as involved as anyone in the title celebrations. He appeared on the Open Goal podcast alongside his former team-mate Andy Haliday and was asked about the celebrations.

"Tonto mate. Honestly," he said. "We were in the stadium and I can mind FaceTiming you (Halliday) after the game against St Mirren. We were sitting with Jimmy Bell and we had a whisky and on FaceTime to you (Halliday). Sitting with a whisky, f***ing amazing, man.

Stewart was then asked if he had a drink with Gerrard in the celebrations and that's where he revealed his cheeky request for a new contract. He said: "I was like that, 'Geez a f***ing new deal, you'. And (Gerrard) said: 'F*** off, you fat c***'."

Stewart left for India the following September and last played for Mumbai City earlier in January. He's currently a free agent.
