Former Rangers and Hamilton Accies kid joins Albion Rovers

Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark has added a second summer signing to his squad after the capture of former Rangers youth and Hamilton Accies reserve player Niyah Joseph.

Striker Joseph worked under Clark and his Rovers assistant George Paterson during their stint at East Stirlingshire last season, before their switch to the Coatbridge club late in the campaign.

The 22-year-old started his career with Rangers U17s and has featured in the SPFL for Queen of the South and Stenhousemuir. He scored seven goals in 10 Lowland League matches for Shire last term.

He will now hope to play a big part in Rovers' bid to get out of the Lowland League, following last season's relegation from League Two.

On his move to Cliftonhill, Joseph said: “I think Sandy and George can get the best out of me. It is a great club to join and I am looking forward to scoring goals for Albion Rovers.

“I got good numbers last season under them at the Shire.

“The standard of the league is better than you think. We want to be at the top end of it competing.”

Joseph's arrival comes after his old Shire team-mate, goalkeeper Ross Connelly, also made the switch from Ochilview.
