Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tipped for Scotland move
Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being tipped for a surprising new role in Scotland.
Solskjaer left Old Trafford in November after a poor start to the season and was replaced by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis.
Charlie Nicholas now believes that Aberdeen should approach the ex-United boss for their vacant managerial position.
Nicholas told the Scottish Daily Express in his column: "If Aberdeen really want to make a statement of intent, they should approach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"I was thinking about managerial options for my old club and I would love them to ask the former Manchester United manager if he is interested.
"He can only say no but if you don't ask, you don't get.
"People might ask why Solskjaer would even consider the Dons job given that he's just managed one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"I do get that, but Solskjaer's CV out with Old Trafford is Molde and Cardiff City - two clubs of similar size and potential to Aberdeen.
"Why shouldn't Dave Cormack (chairman of Aberdeen) show some ambition and try to get a big name to reignite the fire at Pittodrie?"
Aberdeen are currently struggling in the Scottish Premiership down in ninth. The Dons sacked boss Stephen Glass on Monday having slipped to four defeats in their last five matches.
