Former Livingston keeper makes Scotland debut in France defeat

Former Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly made his Scotland debut against France on Tuesday night – four-and-a-half years after his first call-up.

The 27-year-old, now at Motherwell, became the first Livi player to earn a Scotland call for over a decade when first selected in 2019 but it’s been a long wait to make his debut appearance.

Kelly, the younger brother of Livi’s Sean, played the first 45 minutes in the 4-1 loss in Lille before being replaced by Zander Clark.

He spent two separate seasons at the club, initially signing on loan from Rangers in 2016 and helping guide the club to the League One title before returning on a permanent deal two years later upon their promotion to the top flight.

A string of impressive displays earned him a Scotland call and a move to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
