Former Liverpool defender trolls Manchester United over Christian Eriksen transfer report

Ex-Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has reacted to reports that Christian Eriksen could turn down a move to Manchester United with a jibe on social media.

United are interested in the Danish playmaker, who is out of contract with Brentford this summer. The Manchester Evening News understands he is on Erik ten Hag’s wish list right now.

However, the Guardian reports that Eriksen has turned down the opportunity to play at Old Trafford, instead preferring to either stay at Brentford or return to former club Tottenham. Antonio Conte had registered an interest in his former Inter Milan player but has apparently failed to follow up these enquiries — leaving the door open for Eriksen.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Eriksen's future, but Enrique is seemingly convinced that he won't go at UNited. Taking to social media, the 36-year-old taunted United for the apparent snub.

He tweeted: “Another player rejects a move to Man United this summer... Ata legooooooooooo,” accompanied by laughing and waving hand emojis. United fans were quick to respond with various pushbacks.

Eriksen is one of a number of players Ten Hag is pursuing this summer. MEN understands that Frenkie de Jong is his primary target while he is also pushing for Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony.
