Former Iran and Qatar assistant Michael McDermott lands Cobh job
Michael McDermott, a former assistant coach to Carlos Queiroz with Iran and Qatar, has been announced as the new Cobh Ramblers boss.
McDermott brings expertise from high levels of the game, including the FIFA World Cup and Asian Champions League.
He held coaching positions at the likes of Al Ain FC and Al Nasr FC in Abu Dhabi as well Esteghlal FC of Iran.
McDermott assisted Queiroz with Iran at the 2018 World Cup before briefing linking up with him again in the the middle of 2023 with Qatar.
The Belfast man's career spans multiple continents, although he had one role closer to home as manager Glentoran where he won an Irish Cup in 2020.
