Former Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon striker Danny Kedwell makes winning start as Ashford United manager in FA Cup

Danny Kedwell enjoyed a winning start in his first game as Ashford manager on Saturday.

The Nuts and Bolts eased past Egham Town 3-0 at Homelands in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round.

Gary Lockyer marked his return to Homelands with two goals inside five first-half minutes, the first coming from the penalty spot.

It was also great to see Adem Ramadan add a third goal late on having missed most of last season with a broken leg.

Ashford will travel to Harrow Borough in the Preliminary Round on Saturday, August 17.

Marcel Nimani got one over his former club as his tenure in charge of Sevenoaks started with victory over Whitstable at Greatness Park.

All the goals came in the opening 20 minutes with Sevenoaks taking the lead through Kiye Martin’s 20-yard left-foot curler after just four minutes.

Jerson Dos Santos equalised for Jamie Coyle’s Whitstable on 15 minutes but the Oaks restored their advantage with Rodney Eruotor’s blistering left-foot finish from an acute angle. They will host Leatherhead in the next round.

Southern Counties East champions Deal started their campaign with a 4-0 home win over Roffey in front of a crowd of 567.

First-half goals from Jamie Kennedy and Tom Chapman were added to in the second half by Ben Chapman and substitute Owen Wilkinson.

The goals also flowed for newly-promoted Erith Town, although they had to wait for the final 13 minutes to confirm a 6-2 win at home to Pagham.

Andrew Dythe and James Dyer penalty put them 2-0 ahead in the first 18 minutes but Pagham made it 2-2 with 17 minutes left. However, goals from Tom Ash, Ollie Milton and a brace by substitute Kola Salami ensured the Dockers progressed.

Faversham Town kept a second consecutive clean sheet as Nathan Wood’s 38th-minute goal
