Former Bok 'on loan' to Heyneke Meyer's Houston SaberCats from SA Rugby
Former Springbok flyhalf Louis Koen, SA Rugby's current high-performance manager, will join former national coach Heyneke Meyer in Houston for a short period.
Koen, who has been part of the SA Rugby setup for the past five years, has already left South Africa, according to Rapport.
Meyer serves as the director of rugby at the Houston SaberCats and will be joined by Koen for a few months, all with the blessing of SA Rugby.
He was appointed in his position in July 2021.
"This is a very important time for the SaberCats organisation. I am fully committed to turning this team into one that wins on a regular basis and brings a championship to all the dedicated fans of Houston," Meyer said at the time of his appointment.
Following Koen's spell at the SaberCats, he will return to South Africa to resume his role at the SA Rugby.
Koen played 15 times for the Springboks scoring 145 points in the process.
Meanwhile, Meyer coached the Springboks on 48 occasions, including to third place at the 2015 World Cup and an overall win percentage of 67%
The United States is seen to have a major chance of hosting the 2027 Rugby World Cup but will have competition from Australia.
The host country of this prestigious event will be named by World Rugby in 2022.
