Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer on what he expects from Huddersfield Town amid transfer praise

Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer believes the Terriers have done impressive work in the transfer market this season to help bring about their promotion push.

Huddersfield Town have spent the past couple of seasons scrapping out out towards the relegation zone with Bowyer's clubs: he was Charlton Athletic manager in 2019/20 before taking charge at St Andrews last March.

Blues are well clear of the relegation zone as it stands with a 16-point gap to the bottom three, but nonetheless sit just 18th in the table ahead of hosting Town in Saturday's 3pm kick off.

Bowyer told Birmingham Live at his pre-match press conference: "Huddersfield have recruited really well.

"They are 16 unbeaten [in all competitions], that is some run in this league. They are a good side, good pace, well organised and good in the final third. They are in the top six for a reason."

Birmingham have put in improved performances since adding some January recruits of their own but have nonetheless claimed just one win in their last seven.

Former Town man Juninho Bacuna signed from Rangers just a few months after heading north of the border from the John Smith's Stadium.

Nottingham Forest's Lyle Taylor and Norwich City's Onel Hernandez have brought new options to the attack, claiming six goals and three assists between them over the past eight games.

Taylor Richards is still yet to make his debut for Birmingham since arriving on loan from Brighton in January having suffered an injury during his medical, but is closing in on fitness.

Bowyer said: "I am looking forward to the weekend, we are in a good place. Results haven’t gone our way but it is just a matter of time before we can turn that around."
