Fomer Camogie Association president Mary Fennelly dies

Former All-Ireland-winning Kilkenny captain and president of the Camogie Association Mary Fennelly has died.

Fennelly won three All-Irelands as a player, captaining her county to glory in 1976.

In a trophy-laden career, she also won two All-Ireland club championships with St Paul's, two Gael Linn titles with Leinster as well as enjoying significant inter-county success.

She served as secretary of both the Kilkenny County Board and Leinster Council, taking on the role of President of the Camogie Association in 1982, serving for three years.

Fennelly was a first cousin of All Star hurlers Liam and Ger Fennelly, while her father John Fennelly chaired the Kilkenny Camogie Board.
