Folkestone Invicta three Isthmian Premier goals away from 100-goal league mark this season as Jay Saunders’ champions conclude campaign at home to Cheshunt this weekend
Champions Folkestone Invicta plan to adopt a front-foot mentality for their final match of this season - with one last team accolade in their sights.
Jay Saunders’ side, who have already sealed Invicta’s inaugural promotion to National League South, conclude a memorable Isthmian Premier campaign at home against mid-table Cheshunt this Saturday.
Folkestone have scored 97 league goals over the course of the season - which has been led by the division’s 21-goal top scorer Jake Hutchinson - and they will be out to reach three figures before full-time.
“We want to score 100 league goals,” said Invicta boss Saunders.
“We’re three away from that so we’ll certainly be out to score goals.
“As much as we have tried to rotate the side in the past few weeks, we still want to give a good account of ourselves and to win our remaining games.
“Ike Orji and Josh Strouts are available [despite not being in the matchday squad for last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Cray Valley]. The only one missing is Joe Pigott because he’s had an operation to have his tonsils removed.
“We will go out and try to win that game.”
Folkestone’s fixture against Cheshunt will also mark the culmination of their first campaign on the new 3G pitch at Cheriton Road.
They played their ‘home’ matches at Margate, Ashford United and Chatham Town at the start of this season as work on the £1million investment was finished.
The game will be followed by the club’s end-of-season awards presentation from 6.15pm.

“We have played away from home so many times this season - probably more than anyone else - so we were disappointed not to get the win for them on Saturday.
