Folkestone Invicta joint-head coach Roland Edge looks ahead to trip to Isthmian Premier leaders Hornchurch

Folkestone tonight face a massive away test in Isthmian Premier as they take on the leaders.

Hornchurch, managed by ex-Gillingham boss Mark Stimson, are unbeaten at home in the league this season and have only dropped points once. They have also netted an impressive 46 times in 18 league matches.

In contrast, Invicta have struggled this term and are now being led by joint-head coaches Roland Edge and Micheal Everitt.

Edge knows plenty about how the Urchins will set up, having spoken to a member of their backroom team, but stopping them will be a totally different kettle of fish.

“It’s about as tough as it gets,” said the 44-year-old, whose side will start the day 16th. “They are well-drilled and a good side.

“I was speaking to their assistant manager and he pretty much told me what they do. But he is able to do that because they play so effectively!

“In a way, you might want to pick another team to play, [because] they have got a great home record.

“Really, we can just become another side that they have beaten [if they lose] but it’s a nice place to go with a massive incentive to, maybe, nick something against them.”

It’ll be their penultimate away match in 2022 - they’ll also visit rivals Herne Bay on Boxing Day.

Folkestone, who were beaten 3-0 at Canvey Island on Saturday, courtesy of a Bradley Sach hat-trick, will have defender Nathan Green back available after he served a suspension. They had earned successive wins before their defeat at the weekend.

Their league match this Saturday against Bognor Regis will now kick-off at 1pm due to England’s World Cup quarter-final against France in Qatar (7pm kick-off).
