Flight suddenly diverts and lands at Manchester Airport after 'emergency' alert

A flight suddenly diverted and landed at Manchester Airport on Tuesday afternoon (August 15) after an 'emergency' alert was issued.

The Neos Airlines flight, NO2903, from Alicante in Spain, was heading to Reykjavik in Iceland when an incident was declared mid-air and the pilot had to make a diversion.

The flight path shows how the plane took off from Alicante shortly after 1pm and was flying over Lancashire when it turned and headed back towards Manchester, landing at around 3.30pm.

Unconfirmed reports online from flight tracking service RadarBox claim that the reason for the diversion was due to a 'medical emergency' on board the aircraft.

The flight map shows how the plane diverted near Manchester, turning and flying over Bury and Oldham before landing at Manchester Airport.
