'Fleetwood can't win a game' Sheffield Wednesday told they're still in box seat for promotion

EFL on Quest’s Sam Parkin believes Sheffield Wednesday will bounce back from their disappointing weekend loss to Wycombe Wanderers when they take on Fleetwood Town in midweek. With the end of the League One season coming to a climax, Wednesday suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Wycombe on Saturday, who leap frogged Darren Moore’s side into the top six with just two games to play.

Although the result ended Wednesday’s push for automatic promotion, they still hold their fate in their own hands, knowing that two wins from their final two games is enough to secure them a spot in the play-offs. While they currently sit seventh in the table, Wednesday have a game in hand on both Wycombe and Plymouth, meaning that a win on Tuesday against Fleetwood would move them back into the top six heading into the final day of the season.

Fleetwood sit 20th in League One with Stephen Crainey’s side having only tasted victory three times since the turn of the year. And while the hosts will be fighting for their survival, Parkin reckons Moore’s men will have more than enough fire power to come away with three points, setting up what should be a blockbuster ending to the League One season.

“Fleetwood against Sheffield Wednesday...Sheffield Wednesday go into the game as big favourites for me, despite the defeat (against Wycombe),” said Parkin on EFL on Quest.

"Fleetwood can't win a game. I fancy Sheffield Wednesday to win there and that would just about put them in the box seat over Wycombe.”
