Reports emerged on Tuesday evening suggesting Sheikh Jassim was feeling 'confident' about his chances of winning the race to complete a takeover of Manchester United.

Though there is seemingly still plenty to do before any takeover is completed, we've taken a look at five ways his purchase of the club could transform United.

Despite the signing of Mason Mount for £60m on Wednesday, the Glazers will not want to invest heavily in the transfer market if they know their time as owners will be coming to an end.

United are interested in Andre Onana, while midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is also being monitored. United are desperately in need of a striker this summer, and Randal Kolo Muani is just one of the names on their shortlist, though United would need to pay a hefty fee to land the Frenchman - as they would for any of the other names on their striker wish list.

A stable financial position

The Glazers borrowed almost £300m to buy the club nearly two decades ago and they continue to be paid dividends, having taken £33.6m in 2022.

These payments were taken despite United announcing losses of £115.15m for the 2021/22 financial year, leading the disgruntled Manchester United Supporters' Trust to say “there should be no rewards for failure”.
