Five parked cars wiped out after dramatic crash

Neighbours watched on as a trail of destruction was left behind after five parked cars were smashed into. Six vehicles were involved in total during a crash on Manchester Old Road, in Middleton, shortly after 9pm last night (March 31).

Only one of the six cars was being driven at the time of the smash, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed. Images from the scene show a dark grey Citroen DS4, with its front end entirely wrecked, left facing terraced houses across the road.

Its rear end can be seen in contact with one of the parked cars on Manchester Old Road, a silver Ford Fiesta. Four cars parked behind the Fiesta also appear to have been damaged in the dramatic crash.

One of the cars, a white Hyundai, appears to have been shunted into a dark grey Volkswagen Polo which had been parked in front of it during the course of the collision. Two other cars, a white Audi and a white BMW, can also be seen damaged.

One fire engine from Whitefield attended to make the scene safe, GMFRS confirmed. Images show firefighters working at the scene alongside police.

Video footage from the scene, seen by the Manchester Evening News, shows two Greater Manchester Police cars arriving onto the scene. A van and a bus appear to have stopped several metres away from the crash while the drama unfolded.

At one point, a person appears to have been led away by a police officer. GMP has been approached for further details.
