Five day DWP warning over £150 fuel bill discount launch
Homeowners have been issued a five-day warning as the start of an essential government scheme approaches.
The Warm Home Discount for winter 2023 to 2024 will open on October 16. It helps households pay for their energy bills by providing £150, however, not all households will be eligible.
Firstly, certain conditions must be met during the qualifying date of August 13, 2023. Only households which live in an eligible domestic premise may receive the rebate - with eligible households being automatically identified in the VOA data, Yorkshire Live reports.

Households who do not have a relationship with an electricity supplier will be unable to receive the payment. This means you must be a customer of an electricity supplier while holding an account or be named on the electricity bill.
Therefore, properties where the electricity supply is provided through an intermediary, such as in park homes, caravans, and annexes, will not be eligible. A person living in a care home, including nursing homes, would also not be eligible for a rebate for the same reasons.
Those who pay by direct debit or on receipt of the bill will see the Warm Home Discount added to their electricity account as credit. For those who pay with traditional prepayment meters, the supplier will send a voucher than can be used to top up the meter at a local PayPoint.
To qualify, you need to claim either the guaranteed credit element of Pension Credit or a different qualifying means-tested benefit, including:
