'Fit as a fiddle' boy, 11, in a coma just days after complaining of feeling tired

A young boy who complained of feeling tired is now in a coma awaiting a heart transplant.

11-year-old Kallum Oliver's life changed drastically after it was discovered he has a weak heart due to damaged arterial tubes. The football fanatic had been like his peers, running around "only a few days ago" without a care in the world before being put in a medically-induced coma.

Kallum, from Sheffield, had been complaining of tiredness and a loss of appetite. More than two weeks ago, his father, dad-of-three Craig Milne, took him to his GP to investigate, reports Yorkshire Live.

After a walk-in visit and a short trip to A&E, Kallum was rushed to Leeds Royal Infirmary, where Craig was given the shocking and devastating news that his son would need a heart transplant. With no history of heart problems in the family, it was discovered Kallum's heart has seriously damaged arterial tubes.

The young boy was immediately put into an induced coma to rest his heart while tests were completed. He is now at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and at the top of the waiting list for a heart transplant.

Today (May 7), one of Craig's best friends Jason Sharpe, who has set up a gofundme page to help, said: "It's unbelievable. It's only a few days ago that Kallum was running around with my son Carter at a campsite. He was as fit as a fiddle.

"Craig is constantly by his side and petrified as to what might happen to his son but he needs help as he is self-employed and has no salary coming in. Kallum is a lovely lad, very likeable with lots of friends and incredibly polite.
