First Division: Galway United crush Kerry FC to stay top
It was a night to forget for new boys Kerry FC as they fell to a crushing 9-1 defeat against Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park.
Trailing 5-0 at the break, it didn't get much better for the Munster side, with Galway adding four more goals after the break.
Samuel Aladesanusi did get a consolation for Kerry on 65 minutes but the hosts were 6-0 up at that stage. Edward McCarthy's hat-trick set John Caulfield's side on their way, with Robert Slevin and Francely Lomboto also finding the net in the opening 45.
Ibrahim Keita and Stephen Walsh helped themselves to a brace on the resumption as the league leaders ran out facile victors.
Cobh Ramblers remain second after a 3-0 away win at Treaty United. Wilson Waweru and a double from Jack Doherty netted in the second half.
Bray Wanderers stay third after a 0-0 stalemate against Longford Town at the Carlisle Grounds.
Waterford FC picked up their second win of the season after a 1-0 win in Athlone Town. Shane Griffin netted the only goal on 15 minutes.
In Friday's other fixture, Finn Harps and Wexford FC played out a 0-0 stalemate at Finn Park.
