First Division round-up: Galway make it six from six

Galway United maintained their immaculate start to the SSE Airtricity First Division season as they edged past Longford Town 1-0 at Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday night.

The hosts had the chance to go ahead after just two minutes when Ronan Manning was fouled in the box, but Stephen Walsh's subsequent penalty was saved by Jack Brady.

In tough conditions, Manning almost scored one of the goals of the season seven minutes before the break when he took off on a brilliant run, his fine effort flying just over the bar.

Longford defended with impressive resilience throughout but they were finally breached in the 76th minute when Darren Clarke's deflected shot found the net.

John Caulfield's men saw it out to make it six wins from six.

Bray Wanderers swung a five-goal thriller against Wexford to stay in second place.

Ben Feeney fired the Seagulls ahead at the Carlisle Grounds after six minutes, but Aaron Dobbs equalised three minutes later and Ethan Boyle put Wexford ahead just before the half-hour mark.

Feeney struck again in the 41st minute and with the game on a knife edge, Cole Omorehiomwan popped up with his third goal of the season 21 minutes from time to win it for Bray.

Cobh Ramblers fought back from going two down to earn a 2-2 draw at Finn Harps.

Harps led with less than a minute on the clock thanks to Seamas Keogh, and were 2-0 ahead by the 13th minute when Filip Da Silva got on the mark.

However Cobh showed impressive resolve to claw their way back into the contest as a Jack Doherty brace [55 and 72 minutes] got them back on level terms.

Harps ended the game with ten men as Sean O'Donnell saw red in the 82nd minute.
