First and last Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve trains between Manchester and London Euston

The times of the first and last trains between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve have been revealed.

Avanti West Coast, which runs trains on the West Coast Main Line, said it will remove all peak time restrictions over the festive season - and encouraged passengers to book in advance.

All ticket types, including Superfare and Advance tickets, are now on sale but urge commuters to book ahead, make reservations and, where possible, travel at quieter times over the Christmas and New Year periods.

Trains to and from the capital from Manchester are expected to be at their busiest on Saturday 23 and Wednesday, December 27.

A spokesman said: "For two weeks, from 22 December 2023 until 7 January 2024, the West Coast Main Line operator will be withdrawing Peak fares to give customers greater flexibility when making their travel plans, as they look forward to spending time with friends and family over the festive period.

"All ticket types, including the cheaper Advance tickets and the new Superfare, for travel dates until the New Year are on sale. Customers are strongly advised to book in advance as well as make a seat reservation for their journey.

"Services will finish earlier on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and start later on 27 December and New Year’s Day. Engineering work will also see a much-reduced timetable on 1 January 2024."

There are no trains on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
