'Finally' - Charlie McNeill makes transfer admission after sealing Man United exit
Former Manchester United striker Charlie McNeill has admitted he had been trying to join Sheffield Wednesday for "over a year" after finalising his move to the Championship club.
The 20-year-old joined the South Yorkshire outfit on Wednesday, signing a three-year deal. He was released by United last month.
McNeill, who was given his first-team debut at United by Erik ten Hag in September 2022, spent time out on loan at Stevenage last season, joining them for the duration of the 2023/24 campaign in September, before being recalled by United in January. He played just three times for the League One side.

His stint at Stevenage followed a spell at Newport County the season prior. Before both of those loan stints, however, he had spent time at Wednesday in 2021 as part of United's Pro Experience Programme.
McNeill has since revealed that he spent time with Wednesday again in April this year, spending time with the club before his contract at Old Trafford expired. Owls manager Danny Röhl's style of play was a key factor in making his decision.
"I am absolutely buzzing to finally get it over the line," McNeill told Wednesday's YouTube channel. "I have been trying to come here for maybe over a year, so just to finally get it done, and knowing the manager really wanted me, is special to me.
"I came here on work experience two years ago under the previous manager [Darren Moore] and really liked it. I have known a few of the lads since then which was good.
"In April last season, I came here under Danny and really liked it again. His style of play really made me want to join the club."
