Feyenoord manager Arne Slot makes Justin Bijlow admission amid Manchester United transfer links

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot had admitted he holds little power to prevent Justin Bijlow from leaving the club after links with Manchester United.

Manchester United are set for a shake-up in the goalkeeping department. Inter Milan 'keeper Andre Onana is United's top target and they intend to recruit a back-up if they are unable to agree a renewal with De Gea, whose contract expired last week.

De Gea's social media activity has been cryptic, to say the least, which has given the impression an Old Trafford return is less likely. Dean Henderson is still expected to leave and join Nottingham Forest.

Bijlow has been linked as an alternative to Onana, should Ten Hag not have the budget to acquire his top target. Whether the Feyenoord 'stopper could be a candidate to challenge Onana, remains to be seen.

Manager Slot, recently linked with Tottenham Hotspur, has admitted he can't 'veto' a potential transfer. He's hopeful of retaining Bijlow's services despite the interest.

“I am aware of how concrete it is,” Slot tells Voetbal Primeur. “But I am not the person to go public with it.

“I assume that they will not leave, because we (would) like to keep our team together. That does not mean that it is not possible for these players to leave. I cannot veto (their moves).

“How am I going to convince them? It is not so much necessary, because they know what they have here.”
