Fede Valverde: New footage of Real Madrid star’s UCL final assist v Liverpool goes viral

New footage of Fede Valverde’s assist for Vinicius Jr in the 2021-22 Champions League final against Liverpool has gone viral on social media.

Valverde provided the cross that led to Vinicius scoring the only goal of the game in the 59th minute.

Liverpool created more chances but were denied time and again by the imperious Thibaut Courtois, who was deservedly named Man of the Match after full-time.

Real Madrid’s goal, however, showed the class that Carlo Ancelotti’s side possess.

It began with Luka Modric brilliantly retaining possession before threading the ball through to Dani Carvajal, who laid it off to Casemiro.

The ball was then played to Valverde, who burst down the right wing before picking out Vinicius at the back post.

The defending of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold has subsequently been questioned. Both may feel they could have done more to prevent the goal.

But a new slow-motion video shows Valverde’s drilled cross was absolutely inch-perfect.

The 23-year-old midfielder put the ball on a plate for his Brazilian teammate to score.
