FCSB in Rangers travel scramble as plane to Glasgow is a no show prior to Europa League clash

FCSB have been left scrambling to find an alternative flight to Glasgow Airport after the plane they were scheduled to board never arrive din Bucharest.

Elias Charalambous and his squad were due to jet out from the Romanian capital at 11am on Wednesday before taking on Rangers in the Europa League. But their scheduled flight, which was delayed until 1pm, hasn't appeared. Now the Romanian Liga 1 giants are attempting to hastily organise a charter to ensure they get to Scotland in good time.

Steaua's players didn't even bother reporting to the airport, having been informed that a lengthy delay was likely. Now their initial plans have been ripped up ahead of Thursday night's clash in Glasgow, reports GSP. They remain hopeful of still landing in time to train at Ibrox prior to Philippe Clement's side. But as things stand, it's unclear if they will be able to fly out at all on Wednesday and may have to wait.

The scheduled flight was due to leave the Slovakian capital Bratislava before disembarking and making the onwards journey to Glasgow. But a technical fault meant it stayed put to leave the Steaua delegation in the lurch.

It's unlikely to help their preparations after warming up for the encounter with the Light Blues by beating city rivals Dinamo 2-0 away from home at the weekend. Madcap owner Gigi Becali had revealed he planned to prioritise that game and this weekend capital clash with Rapid over playing Rangers, and planned to rest players for the trip to Govan.

He said: "Until now, I wasn't interested in the fact that we were playing with Dinamo, Rapid, I was just saying that it was about 3 points. Slowly, slowly, I began to understand the fans' fanaticism and to say that the matches with Dinamo are more important.
