Fans react as Guy Ritchie returns with The Gentlemen-inspired Netflix drama

Guy Ritchie fans are celebrating after Netflix teased a trailer for a new drama inspired by his 2019 gangster film.

Starring Theo James, The Gentlemen, is an eight-part series set in the same universe as his film of the same name. The White Lotus star Theo plays Duke of Halstead, Eddie Horniman, the estranged son of an English aristocrat who finds himself embroiled in a world of criminality after inheriting his father's sizeable estate.

Ray Winstone is Bobby Glass, the owner of an industrial cannabis empire in London's East End, while Kaya Scodelario stars as Susie Glass, Bobby’s effortlessly fashionable and ruthless daughter who handles the day-to-day business of the drug operation.

Ritchie is at the helm of the action drama as creator, co-writer, executive producer, and director of the first two episodes. Peaky Blinders' Matthew Read serves as executive producer.

Ritchie told Netflix last November: “The world of The Gentlemen is a little bit of me. We’re looking forward to bringing fans back into that world, introducing new characters and their stories, and I am excited to be doing it with this extremely talented cast.”

A new trailer released earlier this week, which you can watch above, also sees Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones and Giancarlo Esposito in the drama. Chanel Cresswell, Michael Vu, Max Beesley and Jasmine Blackborow are also part of the cast.

Harry Goodwins, Dar Salim, Pearce Quigley, Ruby Sear and Peter Serafinowicz also appear in the drama. The new series drops in March, although an extra release date has not yet been confirmed.
