Familiar failing costs Huddersfield Town again as ten-man Terriers suffer Norwich City defeat

Huddersfield Town were once again made to pay for a slow start to a game as an impressive Norwich City claimed victory against ten men at Carrow Road.

Having spent last season on loan at the John Smith’s Stadium, Danel Sinani punished his former club by claiming an assist for Norwich’s opener and then doubling the lead himself within 16 minutes – a trademark quick Sinani start.

After Sorba Thomas was robbed in midfield and Norwich broke up the right, the Luxembourger put in an excellent in-swinging cross from the right hand side for the opener just six minutes in, with Josh Sargent getting the better of Tom Lees in the air to power a header past the helpless Lee Nicholls.

Another move from halfway gave Norwich their second as a bit of trickery allowed Kieran Dowell to get behind the Town midfield and run at the defence. For all that, this was a far cry from the awful performances with which Town started the season, and though their defending was poor for the two Norwich goals, the Terriers did at least generally do the basics right and even finished the first half looking the better side.

Danny Ward was able to get several shot off on Tim Krul that the Dutchman had to respond smartly to, while Jack Rudoni had a shot saved from the edge of the box, Yuta Nakayama had a free kick turned away, and a better Thomas cross from the left might have let Kaine Kesler-Hayden get in to score at the back post.
