Facundo Pellistri reveals the 'most important' thing for Manchester United squad

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has insisted that the "most important" thing for the squad's happiness is to be competing for silverware.

The Reds have already won one trophy this season, with Erik ten Hag's side defeating Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley last month. United secured their first trophy since 2017, but there is still the realistic possibility of winning the FA Cup and Europa League this term.

Ten Hag's men are into the quarter-finals of the Europa League after overcoming Spanish outfit Real Betis in their last-16 tie, while a place in the last-four of the FA Cup is up for grabs when the Reds face Premier League rivals Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

United youngster Pellistri made his first start for the club in the 1-0 win over Betis on Thursday night. The 21-year-old Uruguayan has struggled for opportunities since arriving from Penarol in October 2020, but he has been impressive when called upon this campaign and is keen to fight for honours with the Reds,

When asked by in-house club media about the prospect of returning to Wembley for the FA Cup semi-finals, Pellistri said: "Very exciting. The most important thing for a group to be happy is to know you're fighting for everything. It's very motivating to come here and know you're fighting for every trophy."

Pellistri has made seven appearances for Ten Hag's side this season, registering one assist, which came in the Carabao Cup win over Charlton earlier in the campaign.
