Fabrizio Romano shares big update amid Tottenham link to £40m midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are not prioritising the signing of a midfielder, amid links to Leicester City and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs throughout the summer, but this is unlikely to happen as it stands.

At the start of the transfer window, Spurs were rumoured to be planning to hijack Arsenal’s bid for Tielemans according to Football.London, but a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hasn’t materialised as of yet.

The £40m man has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal, with the former club said to be on ‘high alert’ with interest in a move for the Belgian from Mikel Arteta’s side seeming to be cooling, according to the Daily Star.

United have been frequently linked to Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong but could move for the Leicester star should they be unable to get the deal for the Dutchman over the line.

And Romano believes that Spurs will be focused on other targets, rather than the capture of Tielemans this summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I see a lot of stories but at the moment I don’t have any confirmation on Tottenham [the club’s links with Tielemans] and I think they’re focused on signing a right-back and centre-back with [Clément] Lenglet after also signing Richarlison, so it’s not a priority for them.

Conte has already secured four additions to his squad this summer, including the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton, which would make the signing of Tielemans an unlikely prospect this window.
