Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd switch for "incredible" £34m Serie A star could be a "possibility"

Manchester United signing Inter defender Denzel Dumfries this summer is ‘a possibility’, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old rose to prominence with his “incredible” displays throughout Euro 2020, earning a switch to San Siro from PSV Eindhoven but could be on the move once again over the coming months.

A recent report from GOAL claims that Dumfries has emerged as an ‘ideal player’ for new manager Erik ten Hag in his preferred system.

It’s claimed that the Netherlands international is ‘one target under consideration’ as his compatriot looks to turn United’s fortunes around with the help of some astute acquisitions.

Current first-choice right-back Diogo Dalot has reportedly been informed that he will not be sold this summer, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka appears to be surplus to requirements.

The 24-year-old fell out of favour following the arrival of Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis last term and has struggled to develop the attacking side of his game during his three-year stint at Old Trafford.

And with the full-backs charged with providing the width and attacking threat from out wide in Ten Hag’s set-up, it’s unlikely that Wan-Bissaka will be able to force his way back into the starting XI.
