F1: Toto Wolff makes bullish prediction for Mercedes' return to dominance
Toto Wolff has predicted confidently that Mercedes are not yet finished being one of Formula 1‘s most dominant teams.
The Silver Arrows have been sub-par by their high standards this year but it is clear that they have been working hard all season to try and rectify their issues, and they appear to be making the right noises to suggest that 2023 should be a better campaign for them.
Indeed, whilst the wait for a race victory this year continues and with them on the brink of losing their status as F1 Constructors’ champions for the first time in the turbo-hybrid era, there is hope among the men and women at Brackley that they’ll be back in contention in 2023.
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be hoping that is the case, whilst Toto Wolff is confident that the enigma that has been the 2022 W13 car has now been solved, and they will have a better time of things going forwards now they have 'completed the puzzle.'
“The puzzle is complete,” said Wolff to Formule1.nl.
“The reason we didn’t perform as expected this year is that we didn’t put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Believe me, this is not the end of our dominance, this is just an interruption
Quite the claim from Wolff, who'll know that it is still going to be difficult reeling in Red Bull and Ferrari right at the front.
If Mercedes feel they have solved their issues, though, then who knows what they could do in 2023.
