F1: Guenther Steiner puts rough time frame on 2023 driver decision at Haas

Guenther Steiner has said that it remains 50/50 over who is going to partner Kevin Magnussen at Haas for 2023.

The Formula 1 driver line-up for 2023 is nearly complete with just two seats still yet to be confirmed.

Indeed, there’s one available at Williams and one still going at Haas, with either Mick Schumacher or Nico Hulkenberg tipped to get the drive.

In terms of a favourite for the seat, though, it appears very much to still be up in the air with team boss Steiner saying that things remain 50/50 and that nothing has been decided.

Indeed, he went on to suggest that there would not be a quick decision either, with the US and Mexican Grands Prix coming back to back meaning there's little time for further discussions.

It might not be until November at the earliest we get news on the Haas seat, then, though Steiner has always maintained that he and the team are not in a rush to make a final call:

"I'm honest: It's still 50-50. Nothing has been decided yet," he said to RTL.

“We will logically not make a decision between Austin and Mexico simply because time is not there. The next time would be the week after Mexico, because we don't have a race then and have more time to deal with it."

There remains time for Schumacher to try and show he should be given a contract extension, then, with four races left in the season.

It appears that the nationality of Kevin Magnussen's team-mate for 2023 will be German, but which German it is still needs to be revealed.
