"Exactly what Marsch needs" - Journalist drops LUFC transfer claim on "outstanding" £75k-p/w ace

Leeds target Takumi Minamino could be exactly the type of player “Jesse Marsch needs” at Elland Road this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Having guided Leeds to Premier League safety last month, the American manager is now trying to build a squad to ensure the Yorkshire giants don’t face another relegation battle next season.

And Marsch is targeting a move for Liverpool attacker Minamino, who he’s worked with previously during their time together at RB Salzburg.

According to Liverpool outlet Anfield Watch, Leeds are interested in signing the out of favour Japan international, who enjoyed a remarkable campaign on Merseyside despite his lack of opportunities.

Minamino, who earns £75,000 per-week, played just 1008 minutes in all competitions, made up of just nine starts, but still managed to score 10 goals, bettered only by Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane in the Reds squad.

Jurgen Klopp described the attacker as an ‘outstanding talent‘ for his impressive goalscoring form, but he started just once in the Premier League and failed to play a single minute in any of Liverpool’s seven Champions League knockout matches.

As a result, the FA Cup and Carabao Cup winners are expected to let the 27-year-old leave when the window reopens for business, with Inter Milan also in the running for his signature.

And Jones reckons that Minamino could be an ideal fit for Leeds, especially having played under Marsch in the past.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “People like Minamino might be the guys that fit into that.

“They’re not going to sound like world beating signings, but they might just be exactly what Jesse March needs as he kind of transitions his side and adds steps to it.”
