Ex-Rangers star says Forfar win over Albion Rovers would be perfect birthday gift

Kyle Hutton says bagging a goal and helping Forfar to three points against Albion Rovers on Saturday would be the perfect gift on his 31st birthday.

Former Rangers, Queen of the South, St Mirren, Airdrie and East Kilbride midfielder Hutton signed an 18-month deal for the Loons after negotiating his release from Cowdenbeath on deadline day.

Huttons's papers weren't registered in time before Monday's 3-2 defeat against Edinburgh City, meaning he played 20 minutes as a trialist, but he will start his new adventure officially at home to Brian Reid's side in League Two.

And he says he'd love to kick that off with three points as second-placed Forfar try to eat up a 10-point gap over leaders Kelty Hearts.

Hutton, from Cambuslang, said: "It's 18 months, I'm delighted.

"I start on Saturday, hopefully I'll help them as much as I can and see where we end up at the end of the season.

"It's my birthday on Saturday and scoring a goal and taking three points would be a perfect way to kick it off.

"Kelty are a wee bit far ahead of us, but it's important that we keep winning as many games as we can, keep a bit of pressure on them.

"But to get three points under my belt would be perfect, so we'll see what happens at the weekend."

Hutton admits this season has been a bit of a rollercoaster, and he was delighted when former St Mirren teammate Gary Irvine threw him a lifeline at Forfar.

He said: "At the start of the season at Cowdenbeath it didn't go the way everybody sort of planned.

"Gary Bolan got the sack, Maurice Ross came in, and the start was OK but after a while it seemed like... I don't know, I just wasn't enjoying it at all.

"Just as a guy, he wasn't my cup of tea.
