Derby County supporters are in a celebratory mood after the summer's 11th signing was announced as free agent midfielder Korey Smith.

The 31-year-old signs after being released by Swansea City following the culmination of last season. A two-year contract has been signed to stay at Pride Park until the summer of 2024.

Derby County's newest summer signing Korey Smith has taken to social media to express his excitement at arriving at the club as a free agent.

The former Bristol City and Norwich City midfielder puts pen to paper on a two-year contract at Pride Park after being released by Swansea City following the end of his contract in South Wales. Smith's signing was announced just hours before the Rams were due to take to the field for their second pre-season friendly of the summer at home to Hertha Berlin.

Whether Smith features against the German side remains to be seen, with no indication offered in the club's confirmation. If not, then Tuesday's trip to Stevenage or the visit of Leicester City in a week's time may be more realistic opportunities.

Interim boss Liam Rosenior hailed Derby County's victory against Hertha Berlin - and is thrilled that he has no injuries to contend with.
