Ex-Hibs striker aims to hit Killie peak and fire Hamilton to title glory

Oli Shaw hopes to hit the form at Hamilton Accies that saw him fire Kilmarnock to the Championship title, and says a run of games will get him back to his peak.

Shaw, 26, joined from Barnsley on a three-year deal earlier this week, and hopes to get up to speed through the rest of pre-season.

He then hopes fans will see what he can do, and reckons this season’s Championship title is up for grabs.

But Shaw also admits it’s a chance to kick-start his career after a frustrating spell with English League One side Barnsley.

He said: “There’s a project here, a vision for the club. That, and speaking to the manager, was what sold me to sign the contract, so it’s all positive from my end.

“I’ve got that experience of playing in the Championship and winning it as well, so hopefully that brings experience into the dressing room.

“There are players who have played at a good level in the Championship and the Premiership as well in there, so my experience will hopefully help that.

“I’d like to continue my form in this league. I had a good stint in it with Kilmarnock [scoring 14 goals], good memories, and if I can do something similar to that then I’ll be delighted.

“With Hamilton getting promoted into the Championship this season there’s not really any front-runners, so the title can go to anybody, really.

“We’ve got a good squad here, so hopefully we’ll do something good this season, and build on it for the next two years that I’m here.”

Shaw was due to start pre-season with Barnsley this week, so is a bit behind his team-mates, but expects to catch up.

He said: “We had a few discussions over the last couple of weeks, I spoke to the manager and [director of football] Gerry Strain, and everything they were saying was positive for both
