'Everyone can see' - Diogo Dalot can prove former Man United boss Jose Mourinho right

Of the 11 major signings Jose Mourinho made during his time in charge at Manchester United, only two of them are still at Old Trafford.

The duo in question are Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot, who joined United in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Lindelof arrived from Villarreal and Dalot was drafted in from FC Porto. The chances are Lindelof will not get the chance to try and impress his former boss when United face Mourinho's current club Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night. Dalot, however, is almost guaranteed to start.

The Portuguese international has started each of United's opening 12 games this season, 10 of which have been at left-back. His only outings in his natural position so far this season have been against Barnsley and most recently Brentford.

Dalot has steadily improved at United, being transformed into a modern day full-back who will move into midfield and help create an overload under Ten Hag. He has made 104 of his 169 United appearances under the Dutchman.

But it was Mourinho who arguably paid Dalot his biggest compliment during his United career, insisting he had the capacity to play for the club for up to a decade. Dalot's fellow countryman made the admission after his debut for the Reds in September 2018 in a 3-0 win over BSC Young Boys in the Champions League.

"Everyone could see the potential," Mourinho said. "Everyone could see he's a 19-year-old player that has more than 10 years to play for Manchester United."
