"Every inch of you is perfect": Teacher, 30, tells jury she was 'in love' with ex-pupil who she had baby with as court hears details of intimate letter
A teacher accused of having illicit sex with two former pupils said she was ‘in love’ with the teenager who she had a child with. Rebecca Joynes, 30, denies six counts of engaging sexual activity with a child.
Ms Joynes spent a second day giving evidence in her defence from the witness box at Manchester Crown Court. The allegations concern two teenage boys - who cannot be named for legal reasons - she met while she was a teacher at a Greater Manchester school.
Jurors previously heard Ms Joynes allegedly groomed one pupil, Boy A, with a Trafford Centre shopping trip, before having sex with him. She denies any sexual activity ever took place.

Boy B has claimed that Ms Joynes was ‘controlling’ and said he wanted to end their relationship. But Ms Joynes alleged that it was Boy B who was controlling towards her.
Jurors heard about a letter which Ms Joynes shared with Boy B, when he was aged 17 and at a time when they were ‘struggling’ in their relationship.
She denied that the letter was an attempt to ‘manipulate’ Boy B into staying with her. Prosecutor Joe Allman said the letter included ‘compliments’ including telling him ‘every inch of you is perfect’.

“We had been together for around seven months at that point. We were in a relationship. You write letters and cards to people you are in a relationship with.”
