Everton suffer Donny van de Beek injury blow as Nathan Patterson and Andre Gomes absences explained
Everton have been handed a fresh blow after Donny van de Beek picked up a thigh injury before his side’s clash with West Ham United.
The Dutchman was initially named in his side’s starting line-up by Frank Lampard. However, the midfielder picked up an injury to his thigh during the Blues’ warm-up at the London Stadium.
Van de Beek, on loan from Manchester United, was replaced in the Everton starting line-up by Mason Holgate. Normally a defender, Holgate was deployed in midfield.
While in a statement confirming Van de Beek’s injury, Everton also confirmed why Seamus Coleman, Nathan Patterson and Andre Gomes are all missing this afternoon’s game. Coleman is ill, while Patterson and Gomes are injured.
