Everton: 'Spiky' £15m star 'like Andy Robertson' at Goodison Park

Everton right-back Nathan Patterson plays like ‘some of the best fullbacks in the world’ and is reminiscent of Liverpool defender Andy Robertson, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Frank Lampard picked up a well-earned point at home to Merseyside rivals Liverpool last weekend, with Patterson standing out in the 0-0 draw at Goodison Park.

The 20-year-old made the move to Everton during the January transfer window, penning a five-and-a-half-year deal after an £11 million fee was paid to Rangers for the youngster.

However, he made just one appearance for the Toffees last term, playing against Boreham Wood in the fifth round of the FA Cup. He missed the final weeks of the season after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury.

But he has bounced into the limelight in 2022-23, appearing in every Premier League outing so far as well as their Carabao Cup triumph over Fleetwood Town.

After the recent clash with Liverpool, Lampard piled praise on Patterson’s character and described him as ‘excellent’ in defence and attack.

The former Chelsea boss also revealed that he was set to come into the side prior to his ankle injury last term, but the youngster has finally grasped his opportunity.

Brown says that Patterson possesses the drive and determination to be a great fullback.

He adds that the 10-cap Scotland international has a similar style of play to Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “He has a kind of drive and determination that reminds you of some of the best fullbacks in the business. He’s a little bit spiky like Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, which I like. He obviously gives them a lot of threat going forward.”
