Everton star is in big trouble if emerging rumour comes true - opinion
Everton defender Michael Keane may be worried about his future if a rumour regarding Conor Coady comes true.
Indeed, as reported by TEAMtalk, the Wolves centre-back has been named as a potential transfer target in the summer so long as the Toffees can avoid relegation.
While it remains unclear as to how realistic a deal is, if it was to happen, it could spell trouble for Keane, who has struggled for form of late.
TIF has decided to take a look at why…
It’s no secret that Everton are having a dreadful season. Indeed, with just nine games left in their campaign, they find themselves deep in the midst of a relegation battle – currently sitting one place and one point above the bottom three following their disastrous 3-2 defeat to Burnley in midweek.
At the heart of that, Keane has played in all but three of their Premier League games so far and so must take some blame for the club’s underwhelming efforts.
Keane sat out Wednesday’s match at Turf Moor, though things were summed up for the defender in his last game when he managed to get himself sent off for two bookable offences as the Toffees fell to a 2-1 defeat against West Ham United.
This terrible display is not a one-off, either. According to WhoScored, Keane has picked up average match ratings of 5.11, 5.11 and 5.83 in away trips against West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace respectively this term.
If Coady was to arrive, he would come in having had a much better season. Wolves are all the way up in eighth in the league and could even end up claiming a spot in Europe by the end of the season. Their captain has been key to that form, playing in all 31 games.
Across that span of the campaign, Coady has also picked up a better average match rating (via WhoScored)
