Everton are currently four points clear of the relegation zone but will need to do more to secure definite safety in the Premier League next season over their next eight games, however their instability in the league hasn’t stopped the club from eyeing up potential transfer moves this summer.

According to iNews, the powers at Goodison Park are interested in joining the race to sign Burnley defender James Tarkowski this summer when the player becomes a free agent.

The 29 year old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this season with both West Ham and Newcastle reportedly expressing interest in Tarkowski too.

There is no doubt that the defensive line at Everton has come under serious criticism this season, and for good reason when you consider the vulnerable situation the club has found themselves in, embroiled in a relegation battle over the last few months.

Tarkowski, who was hailed “outstanding” by former manager Sean Dyche, has been a force and a leader in Burnley’s defence over his time at the club, and for this reason the out of contract centre-back has become a hot prospect for many clubs looking to strengthen their back-line this summer.
