Everton news: Brutally honest bottom three prediction emerges

Everton are bang in trouble and could drop into the relegation-zone “very soon”, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Frank Lampard’s tough start as Toffees manager continued on Saturday after his side were narrowly beaten by Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Lampard will guide Everton into the quarter finals of the FA Cup if they beat Non League Boreham Wood tonight, but three defeats from his four league games in charge has left the Goodison Park outfit in deep trouble.

Their defeat to Manchester City, which was harsh considering they were denied a blatant penalty, means they’re just one point above the bottom-three and are in serious danger of losing their ever-present status as a Premier League club.

If 17th-place Burnley avoid defeat against Chelsea on Saturday, Lampard’s side will slip into the drop-zone for the first time since December 2019 when Marco Silva was in charge.

Brown believes that Everton’s current form could lead to them falling into the bottom-three regardless of results elsewhere.

Asked whether he thinks Everton are in big trouble, he told GIVEMESPORT: “Absolutely. They could be in the bottom-three very soon, the way things are going.

“They definitely need to show some more fight, it’s easier to do that at Goodison, where they have shown a lot more fight. They had a great win against Leeds, but it was chalk and cheese against Southampton, even though the team was basically the same.”
