Everton will host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park this afternoon and Frank Lampard will be hoping that his players can look forward and put in a strong display following a confidence shattering defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last Monday night.

The 5-0 loss exposed just how lacklustre this Everton side has become, and the ex-Chelsea boss will need to do everything he can to change the direction the Toffees are heading in as they are currently just one point off falling into the relegation zone in the Premier League.

When you take a look at his most recent performance against Spurs, there is an argument for the midfielder to be benched this weekend. According to SofaScore the Dutch national committed three fouls and was unsuccessful in the majority of his duels (62.5%) proving how poor defensively and ineffective he was in preventing Spurs from building play against Everton, eventually leading to him being subbed off in the 59th minute.

The £22.5m-rated dud was scathed by Jamie Carragher when analysing his performance in the defeat too, claiming that Van de Beek “can’t run” and has become a part of a “frightening” issue for Everton, that could ultimately cost them their Premier League status next season.
