Everton make 'take-it-or-leave-it' offer for £20m star at Goodison Park

Everton have been ‘very serious’ about signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz in recent weeks, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 23-year-old was reportedly on the radar of several Premier League clubs this summer after entering the final year of his current contract at Ewood Park.

Last month, a report from The Sun claimed that Everton were one of several clubs eager to prise Brereton Diaz away from Blackburn following an outstanding 2021/22 campaign.

The Chile international registered 22 goals and three assists in 37 Championship appearances last term, catching the attention of several top clubs from across the continent.

It’s believed that Sevilla, Real Betis, Valencia, Leeds United, Bournemouth and the Toffees were all taking a keen interest in Brereton Diaz, who supposedly has a £20 million price tag.

However, Sky Sports revealed today that newly-promoted Fulham have seen two approaches rejected by Blackburn for their prized asset.

With just hours remaining until the 11 pm deadline, it remains to be seen if Everton are willing to match Brereton Diaz’s valuation, adding some strength in depth upfront.

Jones has informed GiveMeSport that Frank Lampard’s charges are hoping that Blackburn ‘cave to a lower bid at the last moment’ as we edge ever closer to the cut-off point.

He said: “Everton have been very serious about Ben Brereton Diaz, but it’s now a take-it or leave-it moment as they approach Blackburn for the final time.

“Blackburn set the fee high, and Everton just hope they cave to a lower bid at the last moment.”

Overall, the jury’s probably still out on Everton’s business this summer.
