Arsenal make 'one final bid' to land major deal at the Emirates

Arsenal have lodged a final bid for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz and it is ‘now or never’ for the Emirates Stadium outfit, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Gunners have parted with close to £120million during the summer transfer window, but boss Mikel Arteta is looking to secure another fresh face ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Arsenal have been frustrated in their efforts to sign Luiz as, according to Sky Sports, they have had two bids rejected by Villa on deadline day.

The report suggests the Gunners have failed with proposals worth £20million and £23million for the nine-cap Brazil international.

However, it is understood that Arsenal are willing to pay up to £25million for the former Manchester City man as they look to strike a deal ahead of the fast-approaching deadline.

The north Londoners have upped the ante less than 24 hours after Luiz scored directly from a corner as Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat to his suitors at the Emirates Stadium.

There are doubts over the central midfielder’s long-term future as his Villa Park contract, which is worth £52,000-per-week, has less than 12 months to run.

Despite being frustrated in their attempts to sign Luiz, Bridge understands that Arsenal have gone back to Villa with a final proposal.

The Sky Sports reporter believes the 24-year-old will only head to north London if the Gunners’ latest offer is accepted as they will not return to the negotiating table.

Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s now or never for Arsenal. One final bid has gone in for Douglas Luiz.”
