Everton: Lampard still yet to fix major issue at Goodison Park

Everton manager Frank Lampard is refusing to take the blame for his side’s calamitous form, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees were beaten by Burnley on Wednesday night, and they are now just one point above the relegation zone with nine games remaining.

Having fallen behind in the 12th minute when Nathan Collins finished from close range, Everton responded well at Turf Moor and went into the break in front thanks to a pair of goals from Richarlison, both from the penalty spot.

It looked like the Merseyside club were on course for a much-needed three points, but they fell away after the break, and Jay Rodriguez put Burnley back on level terms with just over half an hour to go.

Maxwel Cornet then completed the comeback for Sean Dyche’s side as he fired home the winner in the closing stages of the game.

Everton have now lost seven of their nine league matches under Lampard, and find themselves in danger of being relegated to the Championship.

Brown thinks Lampard is placing the blame on a long-term issue at the club, rather than admitting that he is at fault for Everton’s demise.

Speaking about Lampard, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “He keeps saying: ‘This wasn’t really all my fault, this was the case before I came here.’ The record’s been bad for a long time, but it hasn’t really changed.”

In recent games, it has been clear to see that Everton have been hurt by individual errors. On the weekend against West Ham, Alex Iwobi gave the ball away far too cheaply for the winning goal, while Michael Keane then got himself sent off for a late tackle.
