Everton join Leeds United in hunt for £17m Tyler Adams with Leipzig star set for ‘imminent’ exit

Everton have reportedly joined Leeds United in trying to land RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, with a switch to the Premier League tipped to happen ‘very quickly’.

Adams is on Leeds’ shortlist to replace influential midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who is poised to complete a transfer to Manchester City. Indeed, Jesse Marsch has worked with the Leipzig man before at New York Red Bulls and is keen to team up with the player again at Elland Road.

The Whites have known for a while that a replacement for Phillips will eventually have to be found. And in Adams, they are hopeful the USA international can make a major impact.

However, it appears the west Yorkshire side may have a fight on their hands to get their man.

BILD states that Leipzig are already eyeing up replacements for the 23-year-old, given interest from Leeds and Everton.

The Toffees are looking to revamp a side that narrowly avoided relegation last season. And boss Frank Lampard believes strengthening the spine of his side is critical to them improving.

Adams, whose contract runs out in 2025, is up for sale for between £13-17million.

Indeed, Leipzig boss Domenico Tedesco is open to a sale as he looks to trim the Bundesliga outfit’s squad.

The report adds that Adams is ‘on the verge of leaving’, although his destination remains unknown – at this stage.

Neither Premier League are believed to have made a current offer for the midfielder. However, if they do, Leipzig are hoping more interest drives up the player’s price.

But with Adams expected to depart imminently, that would hint that talks are already going on behind the scenes.

However, Adams is not the only midfielder on the radars of Marsch and Lampard.
