Everton issue team news update for Manchester United fixture

Sean Dyche remained ambiguous on whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be fit in time to face Manchester United, although it is thought Saturday’s fixture will come too soon for the attacker.

The 26-year-old has not played since picking up a hamstring injury following the Toffees’ 1-0 win over Arsenal in February, Dyche’s first game in charge. Calvert-Lewin, who has scored twice in 13 matches against United, is “back on the grass” but is expected to miss the lunchtime trip to Old Trafford.

When asked to confirm whether the forward was ruled out of the contest in Thursday’s press conference, Dyche said: "It just means [his rehabilitation] is continuing on a daily basis, but he's back on the grass."

Meanwhile, Abdoulaye Doucoure will play no part in the match after receiving a red card for lashing out at the face of Harry Kane in Monday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

Full-back Ruben Vinagre will all but certainly miss the clash as he continues his recovery from an Achilles issue while Andros Townsend is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.

Everton otherwise have a clean bill of health with Dyche explaining: "Ruben missed out [against Tottenham] with a tight Achilles but he's back on the grass training, Dom continues his recovery, obviously, and Andros a bit more distantly.

"We're pretty good overall. Some players just carrying a few knocks and bruises but nothing too serious."

Meanwhile, United are awaiting to discover the severity of the knock that forced Luke Shaw off after 37 minutes in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Brentford. Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek remain sidelined, the latter for the rest of the season.
